Athenagoras Recipients

Athenagoras I

Federation of Greek Orthodox Church Choirs

Metropolis of Chicago

To:  Parish Priests, Choir Directors, Spiritual Advisors, Past Presidents and Board Members,

It is time to consider nominations for the Athenagoras I Medal.  This award was developed by the National Forum of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians to recognize those persons who have contributed outstanding service and leadership to the Federation of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians of the Chicago Metropolis and to the Music Ministry of the Orthodox Church locally or regionally on the Metropolis level.  This award is similar to the St. Romanos Award which is conferred on individuals whose contributions to Churches and Music Ministry are impacted nationally

This mailing includes the following:  Guidelines for the Nomination and Selections of the Athenagoras I Medal and the Official Nominations and Statement forms.  This letter will allow you sufficient time to make your selection of a worthy candidate.  Completely fill out the Nomination Form and return it via registered mail to the Federation President on or before, July 15.  Nominations postmarked after July 15, will not be eligible for review by the Selection Subcommittee.

Please read the guidelines carefully and make your nominations wisely.  While it is not mandatory that you submit a nominee, the Federation wishes to recognize deserving individuals and the exceptional work they have done for our beloved Church.  We ask your help to identify who these people might be.  Improperly filed or late Nominations Statements cannot be considered as stated in our Federation by-laws and will need to be resubmitted in the following year.  These guidelines should be self-explanatory, however, if you have any questions, feel free to call me at:  708-364-1355 or email me.

Sincerely,

Ruth E. Faklis

Federation President
